Before you begin

Use a compatible Pocket 4P camera, AirPods that provide headphone motion, and an iPhone with cellular data. The app requires iOS 17 or later. Not every device and firmware combination has been verified. The current app interface is primarily Simplified Chinese. HeadLive is being prepared for App Store release and is not yet available there.

Connect the camera

Enable the camera's wireless connection and close other apps using it. In HeadLive, open 连接 (Connection), select your camera, allow Bluetooth and Local Network, and confirm pairing on the camera. Follow the instructions to join its Wi-Fi in iPhone Settings, then return to HeadLive and wait for the real preview. A camera network without internet is expected.

Enable head tracking

Connect and wear compatible AirPods. Enable the headphone sensors, allow Motion & Fitness, face forward and calibrate while still. Start with small movements. Use fixed-camera mode for a tripod. Optional wearable mode compensates horizontal body turns using the camera's own attitude; mount it upright, use Follow or Tilt Locked, and keep the lens near horizontal. Drift and mechanical limits remain. Manual direction controls stop tracking; recentering realigns and resumes it. Recalibrate after a sensor interruption.

Record on the camera

Tap the in-camera recording row, verify the camera's timer, stop and inspect the clip on the camera. Recording formats are selected on the camera. HeadLive does not download camera files or turn its wireless preview into native 4K output.

Set up a stream

Open 直播 (Stream Settings). Enter your RTMPS application address and stream key separately, choose a bitrate from 1–6 Mbps, choose whether to use the iPhone microphone, and save the profile. Start at 1 Mbps using a non-public test stream. Confirm actual reception on another device. Camera traffic uses local Wi-Fi; streaming uploads use cellular only and may incur carrier charges. Plain RTMP, credentials in the URL and server query strings are not supported. Edit or switch profiles while streaming is stopped.

If streaming stutters or stops

Signal bars are not an upload-speed measurement. Reduce the bitrate, improve cellular reception and restart if the buffer keeps growing. There is no automatic stream reconnection. Camera, network and platform processing all affect latency. Keep HeadLive in the foreground: backgrounding stops tracking and streaming, while in-camera recording may continue. Confirm recording status on the camera. SRT, background streaming and camera-audio extraction are not supported.

Settings, permissions and keys

Manage Bluetooth, Local Network, Motion & Fitness and Microphone permissions in iPhone Settings. Microphone use is optional. Stream keys are stored in the device Keychain. Deleting a profile attempts to remove its key; retry cleanup if the app reports a failure. Do not uninstall the app as a first troubleshooting step or rely on uninstalling to clear Keychain items.
